Permachology (TM)
IMG_4151-1.WEBP

Permachology™ is an original framework developed by Brian Malis that applies the principles of ecology and permaculture to psychology and human development.

At its core, Permachology asks:
What creates a sustainable thriving Psychology—internally and externally?

It is the study of “Permanent Psychology”—a way of living rooted in natural laws, deep truth, and sustainable principles that support long-term well-being.

Drawing from systems thinking, biology, psychology, and nature itself.  Permachology offers practical principles for creating greater health, resilience, and harmony in individuals, relationships, organizations, and communities.

Brian Teaches these Principles as numbered for identification.  There are over 30 numbered principles.  This was part of his Master’s thesis in Somatic Psychology.

Often psychology applies to humans mainly.  Permachology are truths that are true to all of most of nature as well as humans.  This is why they are so helpful.

One of the biggest truths is that if one is planted in the correct environment with lots of resources and support, then a thriving existence is way more likely and less therapeutic interventions will be needed.  Leading to a more likely reality that one will remain strong when pushed into higher stress based moments.

It is both a philosophy and a living system for cultivating lasting wellness.

Becoming an Honorary Member of Each Astrology Sign
IMG_4153.JPG

As a professional Astrologer there was certain traits you notice about how each sign appears in its best (most high functioning) and its worst.

We often use some tool like Astrology to make sense of our self.  We acknowledge the best and worst of our selves through reflections and attach to the fate of the stars.

But what if we were not meant to accept the results of the birth chart and traditional fatalistic approaches to Astrology?

Every sign in truth covers a major area of the Western human and many of the modern world.  We all deal with Self-esteem and self-confidence with others (Aries), Money and Resources (Taurus), Communication (Gemini), Home and Family (Cancer), Sex and creativity (Leo), Health and Organizational systems (Virgo), Relationships and partnerships (Libra), Handling of Change and death (Scorpio), Higher Learning and Education (Sagittarius), Work and Career (Capricorn), Friends and Community (Aquarius), Being Alone and how we feel about our self (Pisces).

No matter what sign you are born under, we do all of those realms listed above.  Some better and some worse.  In relationships these strengths and weaknesses play major roles in how well we do with others.

Each sign or realm listed above can be one of three main ways:

1.  "Well Integrated" - Is a resource and strength of our personality and we are able to do it well in a state of grace.

2.  "Repressed" - This is where we don't want to do it and try to avoid the realm if possible.  It feels daugnting and overwhelming or foreign.

3.  "Over-Expressed" - This is where we are somewhat obsessed in this realm and it ends up devouring other realms of life.  Often leading to other Repressed realms.  This is often where we thrive in an area, but maybe go a little too far with it.

I believe Astrology in it's highest form is a map to name patterns.  "If you can name it, you can tame it!"

Take the journey to become an honorary member of each sign.  Use this map as a tool to orientate to the fact that we are complex beings with many selves, many responsibilities, and have to juggle alot to get by.  This system is designed to assist the average person in improving their full self and especially see our over doing and repressions within life and our self.

Sustainable Community Development
IMG_4154.jpeg

At age 21, Brian co-founded WindSpirit Community in Arizona in 1996—an intentional community that continues to thrive today.  WindSpirit is home to more than 1,500 fruit and nut trees representing over 100 species, while serving as a living laboratory for sustainability, ecological design, education, and community building.

Brian taught permaculture, managed a college internship program, welcomed thousands of visitors, and helped cultivate systems that supported both land stewardship and healthy human relationships.

He has also visited and studied renowned communities around the world—including Findhorn and Tui—and consulted with emerging intentional communities on governance, conflict mediation, and sustainable organizational design.

His work in this field includes a 60-page thesis on social and political structures in small communities, as well as decades of facilitating ceremonies, gatherings, and meaningful community events that strengthen belonging and shared purpose.

Even though Brian no longer lives within an international community, he is still community driven and enjoys bringing people together for both fun and healing

Comedy and Performance
IMG_4039.jpg

Brian’s creative work also includes decades of comedy, character performance, satire, and interactive transformational theater.  I views humor as essential medicine—one of the most powerful ways to create openness, connection, perspective, and healing.

Through original characters, comedic teachings, and playful performance art, Brian explores serious subjects with intelligence, levity, and heart.

His characters—such as The Cosmicfarmer, Doctor Schmidt, and Straight Up Johney—blend satire, wisdom, and absurdity to reveal deeper truths about culture, psychology, and the human condition.

Recently, On Brian’s 50th birthday he hosted a God/Goddess Conference and celebration - where he released his long awaited announcement about his 3rd Great Book.  Within this new Epic Tale there is a return of the Goddess after she was mostly left out of the first two books.  There was a reveal of a new religion called, “The More Women Church of Later Saturday Nights”.   Giving the goddess a new sabbath and religion of her own.

For Brian, laughter is not separate from healing—it is one of its most direct pathways.

The Stress Equation (TM)
IMG_4146.jpeg

One of Brian’s original frameworks for understanding stress and trauma is The Stress Equation—a simple yet powerful model that explores how overwhelm is created in the nervous system.  It is a mathematical/physics based expression of stress in its compounding forms.  This was a key component to his Master’s thesis and approach to healing work.

Compression ÷ Speed = Stress

Compression + Speed = Trauma

Compression² × Speed² = Freeze / Collapse

In this model:
Compression is the loss of healthy space, safety, or boundaries either nternally or externally.

Speed is stimulation, information, or intensity arriving faster than the system can process.

Stress is defined as a perception, feeling, or experience of compression or speed either externally or internally.  Usually someone is still able to respond to the compression or speed when experiencing stress.  (Beta Alert)

Trauma is defined as the coming together of both compression and speed at the same time with sudden force.  This perception creates an extreme fight/flight response in the system to react.  This is usually experienced as a heightened arousal state, which is part of an instinctual automatic survival mechanism within any human or animal.   (Beta Emergency)

Stun/Collapse/Freeze is defined as the point when the compression and speed are so overwhelming that one surrenders their fight or flight response and accepts that they are either doomed or going to die.  This leads to a major dissociative state, which usually consist of freezing, blacking out, or collapsing.  Stun often leads to PTSD symptoms and less right brain functioning.  (Beta Collapse)

When these forces are experienced in higher amounts, the nervous system shifts from stress into trauma, and in extreme conditions into collapse, freeze, or dissociation.

This framework offers a practical lens for understanding nervous system activation, trauma response, and how healing so often involves the restoring of slowing down with feelings of spaciousness, leading to a sense of having options to choose from.  Finally to feeling resourced and rebuilding a sense of capacity and resiliency.

Journey Through Numbers (TM)
IMG_4152.PNG

Discover a life-span development system in this experiential workshop that begins at birth and guides participants through the symbolic and spiritual phases of life. Unlike traditional numerology, which often links a person to a single number, this system explores all numbers 0–10 as a developmental map and stops along the way.

Numbers 0–4 focus on the physical, emotional, and psychological growth from conception through adulthood — This is the foundational stages most people navigate.

Numbers 5–10 explore the spiritual phases of life, offering guidance on what to expect in the spiritual realms as it can be a place of unknown and mysterious realms.  Looking deeply at the the most spiritual questions we can have which are what are my gifts to share with the world and how do I make peace internally within a life full of external conditioning.

This approach uses metaphors and symbolic frameworks to reflect where participants are in their personal journey, providing insight without judgment. The system draws on Jungian psychology as well as Chinese, Jewish, and other mystical traditions, creating a rich, multi-dimensional map of human development.

Participants will leave with a deeper understanding of their life path, practical insights for personal growth, and a framework to navigate both physical and spiritual development with clarity and awareness.

The Three P's
Business System (TM)
IMG_4150.jpeg

A practical framework for business alignment, energetic sustainability, and fulfillment.  Every activity within one’s work or business can be put through this lens and graded high, medium, or low in terms of the many task being called for.

The PPP model helps entrepreneurs and small business owners evaluate their work through three lenses:

Profitability — Does this create meaningful economic value?
Pleasure       — Do I genuinely enjoy doing it?
Proficiency   — Am I skilled and experienced at the task?

When work scores highly in all three categories, it becomes naturally sustainable, energizing, and impactful. Tasks low in profit, pleasure, proficiency are best delegated, automated, or redesigned.  When lower in score in these areas then it is best to find someone else to assist with that realm of work or your business.

This model helps individuals create businesses that are both financially viable and deeply fulfilling and cuts through with simple clarity easy to integrate and understand.

Storytelling & Mythic Teaching

Brian is a storyteller whose work blends myth, psychology, humor, and spiritual insight.

His stories are designed not only for entertainment, but for

“inner-tainment”—stories that nourish reflection, evoke archetypal understanding, and illuminate the deeper journey of being human.

Influenced by Carl Jung, transpersonal psychology, Native wisdom traditions, and mythic storytelling, his work invites listeners into meaningful reflection while remaining engaging, imaginative, and memorable.

His body of work includes original myths, allegories, and symbolic stories exploring consciousness, healing, shadow work, development, and awakening.  Here is a list of some of my stories:
